Church Staff Retreats
Very often one of the ways the devil attacks the Church staffs today is to make them so busy “doing ministry” that they do not have time to pray. Reminding a Church staff of the call to pray always and attending to this critical discipline can help ministers revitalize their strength, avoid burnout, and continue to lead them into deeper Holy Spirit-led ministry.
Within our ministries, we know how effective a weekend retreat is compared to a one-day retreat. If we could take our Members away from their TV’s, phones, and computers for two solid days, we could make great in-roads for the Gospel. We know that it takes about twenty-four hours for a person to “let go” of the world and begin to focus on Christ. That is why a weekend retreat is always more powerful than a one day event.
The same is true for Church staff. Time away, seeking the vision and guidance of the Holy Spirit, enables individuals to reorient their efforts back upon the hands of the Lord. Taking the down time of Summer to grow closer to your staff (and possibly do some strategic calendar planning) can provide the time to help staff regain the fire needed for the fall.
Walter Horner Ministries is capable of crafting a retreat based around the needs defined by the Pastor, implementing whatever other ministry elements he envisions. We discuss where his sees the needs: where the staff is currently spiritually and functionally and where he would like to see them grow towards; and then propose an outline of suggested talks and activities suited for their needs. This is always done in prayer and cooperation with the movement of the Spirit.
